Mom's art in the garden

30 years ago, this used to be the family's vacation cottage. My mom's sculptures are still there, amongst the overgrown weeds. I came back to live there - the place of my dream, with a man of my dream. I feel truly blessed. Here is a snapshot of our…

To love what is

Posted on November 20, 2010 at 12:30 4 Comments

All mental suffering is over! The pain is in the past. If I take an honest look at this very second for what it actually IS, it's a gift to me! It's full of joy!

Suffering became optional, when I learnt how to candidly question my own stressful thoughts and concepts. I found peace and freedom. I found the real me! And this is NOT just a positive affirmation ;-) How do I know? Because this blissful second has turned into thousands of second for me - from the very moment I allowed myself… Continue

The obsession of happiness - and the need for meaning

Posted on October 28, 2010 at 19:00 1 Comment

"Become happy in 10 days" says a guru of happiness! "With me, 3 days are enough", sais her competitor! Well, I for one, don't believe the promise of permanent happiness, like there is permanent make up. And the idea of simply telling ourselves that we're happy, in the worst of times, just to be happy seems monstruous to me. Because it doesn't respect Life itself, with its unpredictablity and our own genetic makeup and subconscious mind, which plays a substantial part in how we carry on with our… Continue

Marie-France,
This is the end. Anyway, I would love to be able to travel, but can't right now. However, I can't imagine living anywhere in the world but the United States of America. My country is my heart and my soul belongs to God. God has truly blessed me because even though my entire adult life I worked with the mentally ill and criminals, I stlll love people and still love learning about people no matter who they are or where they come from. Which brings me to the fact that I am looking forward to getting to know more about you and the other ladies, I am eager to share and learn from all of you. Sending you much love, health and happiness from St. Louis.

Marie-France,
O.K. this is later. I am a total animal lover and have 3 dogs and 2 cats that I rescued while working the street. I am basically a conservative when it comes to poiltics except when it comes to animals and conservation. When I retired in 06, I traveled to Eastern Europe (Croatia, Bosnia, etc) with a friend who happens to be from Sarajevo and had business there. I can't think of living anywhere in the world except the USA. I'm not a world traveler, but I had the chance to go and I went for it. So glad I did.

Hi Marie-France,
I live in the city of St. Louis, and the state of Missouri. I retired from the St. Louis City Police Dept. in Jan. of 2006. I was a police officer for 30 years and absolutely loved it until the last two years when I pretty much got burned out. I will be 64 years old this December and have never been married. I have nothing against marriage for others, but it's just not for me. I did have a 25 year relationship with a man I am still in contact however. I'd tell you more but the computer won't let me. Will explain later.
