Tips for a stress-free Christmas - share yours here...

Christmas really is a magical time of the year but for some of us, it
can also be a very hectic one - last minute shopping, parties, and
outings, visiting relatives and getting work finished so that you can
take a holiday break with a clear conscience.  If you have any great tips to make Christmas as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, please share them here...

Remember - it's good to feel good!

I always try and remember that Christmas is about my children feeling loved and cherished and listened to. Its not about presents but about spending lots and lots of time with them so they understand that they are important.
Quite agree Anuk - if we focus more on enjoying the time we spend with our family / friends rather than the material aspects, it keeps it in perspective and allows us to concentrate on what really matters.
Christmas is great and it wouldn't be Christmas if it weren't for a little fuss about it: Choosing the right little gifts for our loved ones, wrapping them all nicely, baking some special cookies and having time to go to town and have a coffee with a dear friend or two! We never think that we will make it all on time - but we always do! And to do it all imperfectly, ha, what luxury!

I remember the time when Xmas was really about the kids too. Now they're all grown and living far away, and they make it happen with their own children too.

But I can't help thinking of the people who are lonely and hungry - in the cold corners of our rich towns and cities. One year, I remember, as I was being blue and feeling quiet poor and forgotten, I went to the Salvation Army with the kids and we helped make and serve the Xmas eve meal there, to the homeless. Then we sang and made merry, all evening. It was the warmest, the most rewarding Xmas time I had ever experienced.

Giving! Giving a little more of our selves to others, sharing smiles and laughters. Helping each other out. Be kind and inspiring to others. That's what the Xmas spirit really means to me. Hope you have a great holiday season, all!

Too right - it is worth the fuss and if we can learn to embrace the last minute rushes and enjoy being imperfect then it makes it even better :)

...and yes, we also need to remember that there are people out there that are less fortunate than us and this can make us even more grateful for everything we have in life x
